ERB

The Early Childhood Admissions Assessment (ECAA) offers a uniform testing program commonly referred to as the ERBs. This test is officially known as the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence, 3rd edition. ERBs are required for entry to most independent schools in NYC.

The ERB uses eight subsets from the WPPSI-3.  Four are for performance and the other four sections are dedicated to verbal activities.

The test is scored on a developmental scale and standardized using a national population. Each child is compared with a child his or her age in the general population within a 3 month age bracket.

Each year over 2,500 children in New York City take the ERBs for entry into kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades.

Timeline: The best time to prepare your child for the ERBs varies depending on his or her date of birth and year they will be applying to schools. Contact a Bright Kids NYC representative for strategic advice on the best time for your child to take the ERBs.
